Thought for the week

Dear Students and Parents of Christ’s College,

It is reassuring, during this isolation period, that seasons still move through their rhythms – spring has arrived! As we work through this corona crisis internationally, nationally and even in our own homes, it is good to remind ourselves amid this time of uncertainty, that something things are constant. We put our trust and hope in and draw comfort from things that we can depend upon; things that are constant. The current situation highlights our strengths as humans, yet also our frailty. We remain hugely grateful to our keyworkers and NHS staff for their commitment and courage, but we all need something completely dependable, something constant in which we can put our trust and hope: something that will never fail us. This constant, Christians believe, is the loving, resurrected person of Jesus Christ. He proves that His love is constant because He is with us in difficult times, like He was with His fearful disciples in the boat during the storm. His love is constant, and He cares for us like a shepherd cares for His sheep. Lamentations 3:22-23 says: “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases.” In this season of change and uncertainty, our loving God promises to be unchanging.
